Position Overview
The Residential Educator (RE) acts as a “house parent” and supports students’ physical, emotional, psychological, and educational needs in alignment with the Academy’s standards. The RE promotes the school’s core values—Integrity, Stewardship,
Determination, Ingenuity, Optimism, and Appreciation—and helps maintain a positive, caring, and structured dorm environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Well-Being & Support
Create a nurturing, inclusive, homelike atmosphere.
Support students’ emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
Engage with students daily from 5:00pm onward.
Teach soft skills and life skills (communication, responsibility, chores, hygiene).
Assist with homework and encourage good study habits.
Dorm Hygiene & Life Skills
Train and assist students in cleaning their rooms and shared areas.
Monitor personal hygiene, including laundry.
Maintain cleanliness of the dorm and help coordinate routine chores.
Safety & Supervision
Ensure student safety on and off campus; teach “stranger danger” awareness.
Monitor and limit screen time according to guidelines.
Follow all safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately.
Medical & Daily Care
Submit daily medical reports to the nurse (8:30am).
Report health or hygiene concerns to the nurse and Residential Supervisor.
Maintain first aid supplies and follow medical protocols.
Meals & Daily Routines
Attend meals with students and observe healthy eating habits.
Support positive mealtime behavior and nutritional awareness.
Home Supplies & Maintenance
Track inventory of home supplies (soap, toilet paper, etc.).
Report maintenance issues promptly.
Professional Conduct
Model the Academy’s core values and maintain professional boundaries.
Participate in required professional development.
Perform additional duties as needed.
